The Delaware/Raritan Canal extends from the Delaware River above Trenton across the central portion of New Jersey to connect to the Raritan Canal near Somerset. The canal covered 66 miles and was actively used for over 100 years. Now it is a NJ State Park, and the original tow path is an excellent hiking opportunity. Troop 290 chose to take a 10 mile hike (towards hiking merit badge) in the central section of the canal. Here are some scenes of that trip:
